On this last episode of the Marchionda Minutes podcast we hear from Simon who has a special message for his dad at the end of the show. His dad is off working in Afghanistan, so we ended on a nice touch. Every child who wished to be on the show has had an episode, so with a reflective eye to the past I end this season of podcasts! Thanks, kids, for being so entertaining and sharing with all of us about yourselves.

Today we began exploring the process of graphing information. We broke down the process into four steps:
1. Collecting Data
2. Organizing the Data
3. Charting the Data
4. Interpreting the Data
In today’s lesson we focused on the first two steps through trial and error. As you can see in this gallery below, we found a progression towards efficiency with our data collection and organization. Nice work kids!
Here is a video of us collecting data in our small groups:
By the way, don’t forget to watch the video in the post below as part of your homework. Tomorrow we will be mapping the story a bit more, then onto our rough drafts!

Look your finest and look your best, we’ll put that camera to the test! That’s right, tomorrow is our class picture. Take some extra time in the morning to straighten your hair and look your best.

In writing we are putting all of our language arts and writing skills together for the rest of the school year by doing some larger written projects. Today we began a writing project where we are taking this music video and deconstructing its elements of character, plot, events, and setting. We are then going to construct a story (and back story) to help make the video make more sense. Children of the 80′s, you are going to love to see what your child comes up with. Pull up your leg warmers, pop your collars, and enjoy the video!
