While discussing how we come up with an answer to mental math story problem on our POD today, a student explained how he can explain his reasoning so well. Thought I would share it with you all (I’m sure there is a mom out there blushing a little!)

Today in science we did an experiment that had us practice determining the mass of objects. Using a balance scale we determined that a D-Cell battery has more mass than a C-Cell battery. We also played with a consistent amount of water, pouring it into different shaped containers. We predicted where the water line would be, then compared it with where it actually was. We determined that narrow containers made a higher water level than wider containers, when using a consistent amount of water.
Nice work, kids. I am looking forward to our other experiments and what we will discover!
